The third in Celebrity Cruises' stylish, $3.7-billion Solstice Class fleet, Celebrity Eclipse has unveiled her sleek profile as she emerged for the first time from the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. Undocking began around 7.30 a.m. By 9.30 a.m. the Celebrity Eclipse was moored at the outfitting pier. Starting around 1 p.m., various tests and trials were conducted in the harbour. The ship was again moored at the pier around 5 p.m. With the ship being berthed, the remaining interior finishing work as well as tests and trials will be carried out in the next two weeks. Once the undocking is completed, the first crew members will move into their quarters on board. The Celebrity Eclipse will then be conveyed down the river Ems to her trials port in Eemshaven (Netherlands). Celebrity Eclipse will enter service April 26 and, following two "short break" cruises, will offer a series of Canary Islands, Scandinavia/Russia and Spanish Mediterranean sailings roundtrip from Southampton, England. The new vessel will present Caribbean cruises roundtrip from Miami beginning in November.
