Shortly before noon on Sunday morning, the newest addition to the Disney Cruise Line, Disney Fantasy, was floated out from the covered building dock at the MEYER WERFT shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. Following the float out the ship undertook a number of tests and trials in the harbor of the shipyard. The ship was then berthed alongside the yard's pier where the remaining work on board will be completed. Disney Fantasy is scheduled to be conveyed to the North Sea two weeks from now. The exact time and date of the passage on the river Ems will be set based on weather and tidal conditions. Featuring 14 decks, a ship length of 1,115 feet and a maximum width of 125 feet, the 130,000-ton vessel includes 1,250 staterooms and has the capacity to accommodate 4,000 passengers—along with the over 1450 crew members. The official delivery of the ship from MEYER WERFT to Disney Cruise Line is scheduled to take place in Bremerhaven on February 9th. Disney Fantasy will sail seven-night alternating eastern and western Caribbean itineraries (Disney Dream sails on three-, four- and five-night cruise to the Bahamas). All cruises will depart from Port Canaveral, Fla., and include a stop at Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay.
