"I started teaching beadwork eight years ago and set up a group, and then five years later I started my own needlecraft business, where I now run workshops for groups. We’re based in West Cumbria. We’ve just got back from a lovely holiday together too, where we went on a Fred. Olsen Cruise that we booked through Cumbria Cruises.
"A friend recommended Cumbria Cruises to me when I decided I wanted to take our group on a cruise. It was the first time I’d organised a cruise and it was a wonderful experience. We were looked after by the staff so well, it couldn’t have been better. There were 38 of us on the cruise for seven nights. Cumbria Group Travel were very helpful, and gave me great advice on which cruise ship would best suit our group. Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines even set aside rooms for us on the ship so we could do our needlework.
"Also, as it was our first time on a cruise, we opted for a smaller ship. Cumbria Cruises recommended Braemar, and it was so friendly. We didn’t want anything too formal. We got to know our way around very well, which made us feel safe and comfortable with our surroundings. Another benefit of a smaller ship was we got to know the other passengers very well, and ended up making new friends, some of which we have kept in touch with since our trip.
"Whilst on our cruise we travelled from Newcastle to Norway, although we stopped off at many places along the way, and did a spot of shopping. It was a great journey and everything was very well planned, so our group knew where they had to be at certain times. There was plenty for us to do onboard the ship. There was a gym, a swimming pool on the top deck, a hairdressers and a boutique. They also had shows in the evening, and we spent some time in the lounge bar where there was a pianist playing, so it was a nice way to relax at the end of the day. Many of us also brought along our partners, so we had time to go off and do our own thing as well.

The food on the ship was also wonderful. There was plenty to choose from, all beautifully presented with attentive waiters.
