Visiting the Ocean Village Two
On April 21st, staff from Cumbria Cruises were privileged to be invited to the Grand Launch of the latest addition to the Ocean Village fleet, the magnificent Ocean Village Two. A full day of discovering the ship followed, with an evening of entertainment provided, giving us just a taste of the full Ocean Village Experience, allowing our staff to discover the cruise for people who don't do cruises...

Arriving in port
The magnificent Ocean Village Two glides into Southampton, to be greeted in traditional fashion. She will be able to accomodate 2,014 passengers at full capacity, and will be cruising the Mediterranean and Caribbean from May 2007 onwards |
|
The front of the ship
At 70,000 tons, Ocean Village Two is the perfect size to provide every facility one could wish for in a fun filled family holiday, experience the Karma Spa, Sunweavers Bar, Players Casino and many more outstanding facilities onboard. |
|
The top deck
With the Port of Southampton in the background, we were treated to a perfect evening of clear skies and the setting sun. The deck itself is textured artificial grass, a unique touch on a very special cruise ship. |
|
Base camp
Friendly and fully trained staff will provide fun activities for kids aged from 2-17 in the Base Camp, the perfect place to leave the little ones and enjoy quality time together. Sadly, the activities at Base Camp were not open when we visited, for the big kids from Cumbria Cruises to try out! |
|
Funnel vision
Up on deck you can get up close and personal with the funnel of Ocean Village Two, with the signature colours standing out and clear to see. The ship is very easy to navigate, and all parts are easily accessible from any of the lifts or stairways. |

Presenting Ocean Village Two
It's not all fun and games - here Cumbria Cruises staff are attending a presentation in The Marquee, detailing the many highlights of cruising on Ocean Village Two (front to back Lee (Web Team), Lois (Reservations) & Kate (Assistant Manager, Cumbria Cruises)) |
|
Up on deck
After the presentation, there is just enough time to chill out on deck for a while before getting ready for a fun filled and action packed evening (left to right Nina, Lisa & Evie (Reservations) and Julie (Assistant Manager - Marketing Department)) |
|
View from the deck
The Port of Southampton also played host to QE2 and (pictured) Celebrity Millennium on 21 April. The deck of Ocean Village Two provided this spectacular view of the Millennium, and it was a wonderful sight to watch her cruise past and onto the Solent. |
|
Party time
In the Connexions Bar, we took the time to reflect on the day so far and pose for the camera. Pictured here are, Denise (Sales Manager), Lisa (Reservations) and Coralie (Marketing Co-Ordinator, Marketing Department), just before the evenings festivities get fully under-way. |
|
Meeting the captain
Sales Manager Denise Henderson meets the proud Captain of Ocean Village Two, David Box. This photograph was taken in the Waterfront Restaurant, where we were lucky enough to be joined by Captain Box to enjoy the international array of cuisine available. |
|
Toasting Ocean Village Two
A little later in the evening, Captain Box joined Julie, Assistant Manager of our Marketing Department in a glass of wine, toasting the success of Ocean Village Two. Captain Box is looking forward to taking Ocean Village Two around the Mediterranean, where many more memorable nights will surely follow. |
|
First thing in the morning
As we disembarked we were treated to a truly stunning sight. The latest Freedom Class ship from Royal Caribbean, the 158,000 ton Liberty of the Seas cruised past and into port for her inaugral night. We stood in awe as she filled the harbour, before berthing. |
