Tahitian Princess by Jo-Anne & Kate

Princess Cruises

Ship - Tahitian Princess
Line - Princess Cruises
Date - 26 May 2009

We boarded Tahitian Princess, one of the line's smallest vessels, not knowing exactly what to expect.  The lobby resembles that of a boutique hotel, with burgundy carpets and dark woods dominating the decor throughout the ship, creating a warm and cosy feeling.

The Breakfast restaurant is modest and you can sit outside, which on sunny days would be a sun trap.  We had a taste of what to expect for Breakfast with all the ingredients of a full English breakfast, Continental choices plus yummy chocolate pancakes which went down a treat.  It was a shame at being too full to experience the chef on hand making delicious omelettes.

For quiet times the fascinating library offers an excellent selection of books. It has comfortable wing back chairs with foot-stools and sofas you could easily fall asleep on; this is one of the most relaxing rooms onboard the ship.

After a workout at the well-equipped gym head next door to the Lotus Spa which has five basic treatment rooms, though the one located off the salon has a gorgeous view through a floor-to-ceiling window. To cool off outside, the pool is flanked by two whirlpools on the open deck with many sun loungers surrounding (a good sunbathing space for all), there is also a small jogging track around the perimeter of the swimming pool.

At night time you can chill out and spend money in the Casino, enjoy the Bar/Lounge with the piano playing or head to the intimate Cabaret Lounge which is Tahitian's main show venue, which has a stage, and circular hardwood dance floor. Cabaret acts form the main focus of entertainment onboard, with mini-revue style shows presented by a troupe of resident singers and dancers.

As the ship was full when we visited we did not get a chance to visit the cabins which was a shame as by seeing the ship we are pretty sure they would have been very elegant and beautifully decorated.

The overall feel of the ship is an old world county club which would suit people of retirement age.
